IT IS A CASTLEVANIA
We're finally getting a new Castlevania game, and I am very normal about it.
I did a reaction stream to yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play event, as is sort of tradition, and naturally went into it with my usual “c’mon Konami, gimme a new Castlevania!” bluster. Little did I expect Konami would actually do it!
Details about Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse remain scarce, but the game features seemingly a brand-new Belmont, and the trailer also highlights an older Trevor Belmont. There’s also a slew of traditional Castlevania badies, including our first look at the game’s new iteration of Death.
Belmont’s Curse will mark the first female Castlevania protag since Shanoa back on the DS and, if she’s a Belmont as the trailer implies, the first female Belmont since Legends 3 on the Game Boy.
The game is being released as part of a 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Castlevania franchise. In a post published after the event, Konami acknowledged Belmont’s Curse as “the beginning of numerous new products around Castlevania.”
No clue what that will entail, but plenty of hopeful ideas. Could we finally get Symphony of the Night ported to Switch and/or PC? A re-release for Castlevania 64? Or maybe something new altogether?
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is out sometime later this year. I will stop screaming at some point.
